The Newsletter

A short letter, twice a year, when a play is finished, when a production opens, or when new classroom material becomes available. Nothing else, ever.

What the letter contains

Three things, and only three
One

A new play finished

When a script reaches the point where a company could stage it, the letter says what it is about, how many actors it needs, and how long it runs.

Two

A production opening

Where and when one of the plays is being staged, whether by Arizona Theatre Matters or by a company that has licensed it.

Three

New classroom material

Scene packets, monologue collections and discussion guides, as they are written and made available to teachers.

An email address is all it takes

No sales sequence

Signing up does not start a series of messages designed to sell you something. There is no funnel behind this address, and no letter arrives simply because a fortnight has passed.

No sharing

Addresses are never sold, swapped, rented, or passed to another organisation. The list exists in one place and is used for one thing.

No tracking games

Nobody is scored on whether they opened the last letter, and nobody is written to more often for having clicked something.

What past letters have said

A sample of subjects
  • The second edition of When Churchyards Yawn and Other Plays is in print
  • Even Unto Death is finished, and what it asks of a company
  • HERETIC, The Mary Dyer Story closes after eight years on the road
  • New scene packets for classrooms, drawn from four plays
  • A residency at a university, and what the students made of it
  • Lear, a solo adaptation, receives its first staged reading

Read something now

The next letter may be months away. When Churchyards Yawn and Other Plays is available today, four plays in one volume with a foreword by Chuck Fager and contextual material for actors, directors and educators.

If you are press

Rather than a subscriber

Journalists and reviewers are better served by the press archive, which gathers forty years of coverage, and by writing directly for an interview, an image, or a review copy.

Rather just write?

You do not need to be on a list to ask a question. Both addresses are open, and every message is read by a person.
